The 2016 Brut Nature Le Mesnil-sur-Oger Les Corroies de Bas from Champagne Lombard is a rare and precise expression of the Grand Cru terroir of the Côte des Blancs. Produced from a single vineyard, this non-dosage Blanc de Blancs seduces with its purity and chalky texture. This cuvée reveals a minimalist and authentic approach to Chardonnay.
This champagne is made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes grown in the Les Corroies de Bas vineyard, located halfway up the hillside in Mesnil-sur-Oger. This 55.57-acre plot, planted in 1971, rests on loamy-clay soil enriched with gravel (a mixture of chalk and silt), which brings richness and structure to the wine.
The northern exposure gives this Chardonnay great tension. The absence of reserve wines allows for a pure interpretation of the 2016 vintage. The wine was aged for 6 to 8 months in barrels (lightly toasted), without fining or malolactic fermentation, with careful stirring to preserve its natural energy.
After a cool, wet spring, 2016 ended with a beautiful dry summer, promoting grape ripeness while maintaining good acidity. On the terroir of Mesnil-sur-Oger, these conditions produced a structured, straightforward, and luminous wine. The cuvée aged for 48 months on slats, enhancing its complexity and silky texture.
The color is a bright pale yellow, animated by fine, dynamic bubbles, a sign of freshness.
The nose is elegant, revealing aromas of fresh pear, crunchy hazelnut and a hint of wet chalk.
On the palate, the attack is lively and straightforward. A meringue-like texture envelops the wine, offering a chalky minerality softened by warm, fleshy notes. The finish is taut, pure and salty.
A bottle of this Grand Cru single vineyard wine is available for 89,95 €. A signature wine that will appeal to lovers of pure, uncompromising terroir champagnes.

Enjoy now for its vibrant energy, or cellar for 7 to 10 years to explore its depth. Serve around 62°F in a tulip glass or white wine glass.
The place name Les Corroies de Bas derives from a former use of the land, now revealed through the prism of Chardonnay. Its mid-slope location and gravelly soil offer an atypical interpretation of Mesnil-sur-Oger, both fleshy and crystalline.
