The Cuvée Prestige 2007 Grand Cru produced by the Le Mesnil cooperative is a champagne that combines freshness, minerality and power. A champagne for connoisseurs.
The Coopérative du Mesnil-sur-Oger is one of only two Champagne cooperatives authorized to use the village's name as a trademark. Mesnil-sur-Oger is one of the most emblematic villages on the Côte des Blancs. It's a terroir with chalky, poor soils that force the vines to plunge deep into the soil for nourishment. The result is grapes of great freshness and immense minerality.
Cuvée Prestige 2007 is made from old, south-facing Chardonnay vines. These low-yielding vines produce grapes with highly concentrated aromas.
This champagne is made without malolactic fermentation to preserve maximum tension and energy in the wine.
Vinified in stainless steel tanks to retain maximum freshness and lightness, the wine is then bottled and lowered into cellars several dozen meters underground.
Cuvée Prestige 2007 Grand Cru has a deep gold color, with fine, delicate bubbles.
On the nose, this cuvée reveals notes typical of mature Chardonnay, with aromas of praline, undergrowth, brioche and caramel.
On the palate, Cuvée Prestige 2007 begins with a round but still youthful attack. Then, in the mid-palate, the wine's fine texture underlines notes of candied citrus and lemon. The finish is magnificent, lingering for long seconds on the palate.
