Les Monets 2018 from Maison Elemart Robion is a very fruity champagne that can be served as an aperitif, but especially at the table.
This cuvée is made from Pinot Meunier grapes from a single parcel on the Lhéry terroir in the Ardre Valley. This plot, known as "Les Monets", has limestone soil and a south-west exposure, giving the grapes a fine minerality.
The grapes are then vinified and aged on their lees in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place, and the wine is bottled in the spring. The bottles are then aged in the Maison's cellars, and regularly handled, to bring the lees back into suspension and develop the wine's texture and aromas.
This cuvée has a luminous, pale yellow-gold color.
The first nose expresses character and volume, with notes of ripe fruit such as quince compote, mirabelle plum and orange. Aeration reveals notes of orange blossom, almond, warm apple and peppermint, with a hint of honey.
On the palate, the wine is rich and fresh, with a creamy, mellow effervescence. The aromas perceived on the nose are renewed on the palate, followed by notes of red and black fruit.
Elemart Robion's 2018 Monets will be perfect at the table with pan-fried scallops and butternut purée, semi-cooked foie gras or 24-month-aged Parmesan.
