This year, Dom Pérignon entrusted the creation of the Dom Pérignon limited edition to fashion designer Iris Van Herpen. She chose to work on the evolution of vintage champagne, its ageing, its passage from one state to another, its different plenities.
Iris Van Herpen focused on Vintage 2004, a vintage that is nearing the end of its first Plénitude.
Bottles of Vintage 2004 that have not been marketed will wait in Dom Pérignon cellars for at least 8 more years to develop their aromas and enjoy a second life, as is currently the case with Vintage 1998, Plénitude 2.
Iris Van Herpen has interpreted this moment as a change of form, the passage from one state to another. A metamorphosis that takes place with energy and patience.
The Dutch artist's first work, Cocoonase, refers to a butterfly that softens its cocoon before beginning its metamorphosis. This bewitching, sculptural work conceals a bottle of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2004.
For the limited edition offered here, Iris Van Herpen created a second work, Metamorphosis, with obvious ties to Cocoonase.
The artwork created for Vintage 2004 has been adapted for the magnificent Vintage Rosé 2003.
