The Cuvée Rosé Grand Cru from Maison Cazals is a champagne that combines the finesse and purity of Chardonnays from Oger and Mesnil-sur-Oger (Côte des Blancs) with the intensity of Pinot Noirs from Verzenay (Montagne de Reims).
The Cazals house is located in Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of the most renowned villages in the Côte des Blancs. World-famous houses such as Salon and Delamotte were founded in this village, and all the great houses have vineyards here. The vineyards located in the village of Mesnil-sur-Oger and the neighboring village of Oger are unique in that they are very chalky, producing grapes with a lively character and wines that often need to be aged for a few years to soften their vigor and reveal their full potential.
Oger and Mesnil-sur-Oger are classified as Grand Cru, the highest level of the Champagne appellation. Only 17 villages are classified as Grand Cru.
This rosé blend, a marriage of white and red wines, requires special attention. This cuvée is made from grapes carefully selected from plots where the bunches are the ripest and the average age of the vines is 40 years, in order to produce a smooth, rich wine with a long finish. Every year during the harvest, Delphine visits a family friend who is a winegrower in Verzenay (Grand Cru) to select the barrel of red wine that will be used to make this Rosé cuvée.
This champagne is dosed Brut, at 9g/l, which brings out its delicious aromas.
The Cazals Grand Cru Rosé has a pale pink color. Its bubbles are very fine and extremely lively.
On the nose, this champagne reveals notes of red berries and blood orange.
On the palate, this cuvée has an energetic attack, with beautiful minerality and elegant aromas.
