A vibrant tribute to one of the founders of the House, Champagne Canard-Duchêne Brut Léonie embodies elegance, indulgence, and finesse. This characterful wine draws on the freshness of the latest harvest and the richness of a perpetual reserve established in 2012 to deliver a resolutely gastronomic cuvée. Refined, complex and accessible, it is a must-have in the Canard-Duchêne collection.
Brut Léonie draws its personality from a harmonious blend of three Champagne grape varieties, dominated by Pinot Noir for its structure and nobility:
The heart of the cuvée is based on the 2021 harvest, a vintage with low yields but excellent quality. It is complemented by 50% of wines from a perpetual reserve started in 2012, the oldest of which dates back to 2009. A minimum of three years' aging in the cellars of the Domaine de Ludes and a dosage of less than 7 g/L ensure this cuvée's freshness and aromatic intensity.
Marked by significant climatic hazards, 2021 was one of the most complex years in Champagne in the last decade. Spring frost, high summer humidity, and low sunshine drastically reduced volumes. However, thanks to rigorous selection of plots, the harvested grapes produced wines with beautiful aromatic intensity and marked freshness, perfectly suited to the style of the Léonie cuvée.
The Brut Léonie has a pale, luminous gold color with fine, regular bubbles.
The nose evokes juicy yellow fruits such as peach, accompanied by floral notes and a hint of brioche and sweetness.
The palate is both fresh and generous. Aromas of candied pineapple and dried flowers are enhanced by subtle toasted and spicynotes. The finish is lively and mouth-watering.
The price of a bottle of Brut Léonie is 33,50 €. An expressive and elegant champagne, ideal for lovers of gourmet cuvées at an affordable price.
Critics praise the precision of the blend and the delicious freshness of this cuvée. Winner of a gold medal at the Drinks Business Awards, rated 94/100 by Gault & Millau and 16.5/20 by Le Point, Brut Léonie is a sure bet. Read reviews of Brut Léonie.
This champagne can be enjoyed immediately after purchase or stored for 3 to 5 years in a cool cellar (42-59°F) away from light. Serve between 44 and 50°F to bring out its freshness and fruity expression.
The Léonie cuvée pays tribute to Léonie Duchêne, co-founder of the House in 1868, and the first to believe in the potential of her husband Victor Canard. Today, she still symbolizes the feminine elegance and pioneering spirit that have shaped the history of Canard-Duchêne.
