      Description

Boonen Champagne's "Le Cirque " cuvée is a vibrant tribute to the estate's 109th harvest and to the nobility of the Meunier grape.

Hailing from an exceptional natural amphitheater, this single-vineyard cuvée captures all the power and complexity of the "Grands Terroirs de Meunier" of the Flagot Valley. Crafted with the blend of technical rigor and humor that defines the House, this champagne offers a rich, spicy, and profound interpretation of a grape variety that has long remained in the shadows.

The production of the Le Cirque cuvée

For this "109th Harvest" edition, Maison Boonen sought to extract the quintessence of Meunier through precise winemaking and a minimalist dosage.

      The Pure Expression of Meunier

      • Blend: 100% Meunier (Blanc de Noirs).
      • Vinification: Use of temperature-controlled tanks to preserve the fruit’s clarity.
      • Malolactic Fermentation: Carried out to impart a smooth, rounded structure.
      • Aging: Aged on lees for 24 months to refine the aromatic complexity.
      • Dosage: Extra-Brut at 2.5 g/l, a very low dosage that highlights the terroir’s mineral depth.

The Terroir: The Cirque de Festigny

The Cirque de Festigny, located on the Left Bank of the Marne Valley, is a precious geological enclave. Here, the clay-loam and limestone soils provide the Meunier grape with an ideal environment to express itself. This cirque-like terrain promotes optimal phenolic ripeness, giving the wine the density and aromatic complexity that characterize the greatest wines of the Flagot Valley.

      Storage and Serving Tips

      Aging Potential

Thanks to its density and Extra-Brut dosage, Le Cirque can be enjoyed now or aged in the cellar:

      • Immediately: For its spicy liveliness and vibrant fruit.
      • 2 to 4 years: To allow the notes of marzipan and spices to develop greater harmony and depth.
      • Beyond 4 years: The wine gains complexity and aromatic richness. The cuvée becomes even more gastronomic.

      Serving Recommendations

To preserve its complexity, serve this champagne between 10°C and 12°C. Its rich and spicy profile makes it a formidable table champagne, capable of enhancing exotic and bold flavors.

The price of Le Cirque de Boonen champagne is 59,95 £GB. It is a wine with character, made from a carefully selected blend of grapes.

Meunier is the king of grape varieties in the Marne Valley. In Festigny, it expresses itself with particular nobility, far from its reputation as a simple blending grape, offering here a dense and complex structure.

It reflects the estate’s long history, bearing witness to a tradition of expertise passed down for over a century on the lands of the Cirque de Festigny.

This type of soil retains moisture and provides the vines with a steady supply of nutrients, giving the Meunier its full-bodied character and aromas of ripe fruit, such as apricot.
