Champagne Bollinger'sLa Grande Année 2015 cuvée, presented here in a limited edition "Canopée" bottle, embodies the house's excellence and artisanal style. Made exclusively in barrels and aged under cork stoppers, it expresses the power, precision, and complexity of a perfectly mastered sunny vintage.
La Grande Année 2015 is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, sourced from 11 of the most prestigious crus. In keeping with Bollinger tradition, the wine is vinified entirely in oak barrels, giving it depth and texture.
The year 2015 was marked by contrasting weather conditions, alternating between regular showers and hot spells. Bollinger's expertise enabled it to overcome these challenging weather conditions. The grapes harvested from September 4 onwards were exceptionally ripe, with small, concentrated berries and good acidity, ensuring balance and longevity. An intense, sunny vintage, perfectly suited to Bollinger's style.
This cuvée comes mainly from the great terroirs of the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. The chalky soils of Chouilly and Avize bring tension and purity, while the historic terroirs of Aÿ and Verzenay bring power and structure. A rare balance between vinosity and refinement.
La Grande Année 2015 is vinified exclusively in small oak barrels, the house's signature method. Aging under cork allows for slow, steady, and precise evolution. After a long maturation period, the wine is dosed at 8 g/L, retaining all the generosity of the vintage while preserving its freshness.
Deep golden yellow, brilliant, revealing the wine's maturity and the influence of aging in wood.
Initial nose of stone fruits:Canadian apple, plum, mirabelle plum, fine honey. After aeration: blackberry, blackcurrant, raspberry, cherry, a touch of almond and an exotic hint of mango combined with vanilla and slightly woody notes.
A fleshy, full-bodied attack, reminiscent of mirabelle plum jam. Rich, structured texture, carried by a beautiful energy. Generous finish, blending fine chocolate, tangy citrus, and a hint of minerality evoking schist.
La Grande Année 2015 is a gastronomic champagne, ideal for accompanying refined and flavorful dishes.
Store La Grande Année 2015 at 10–12°C in a dark, stable cellar with 70% humidity. Thanks to its extended aging and full-bodied structure, this champagne can continue to evolve for many years, developing aromas of dried fruit, honey, and spicy notes.
Optimal window: 2025–2042. From 2025 to 2030, the wine expresses tension and aromatic energy, dominated by yellow fruits. Between 2031 and 2038, it gains roundness, revealing notes of brioche, honey, and candied fruit. From 2039 onwards, it reaches a deep maturity, combining a creamy texture with racy minerality.
We recommend serving La Grande Année 2015 at 40–45°F in a tulip glass or a thin universal glass. Light aeration in a decanter (rare but possible for this cuvée) magnifies the fruity, woody, and spicy notes.
