Nicolas Maillart's Cuvée Courzy 2019 is atypical in that it is made exclusively from Petit Meslier, a grape variety that is rare in Champagne.
Petit Meslier is a grape variety distinguished by its freshness, tension and beautiful aromatic richness.
The grapes come from the 1er Cru terroir of Villers Allerand in the lower Montagne de Reims. The wines were vinified and aged in oak barrels for 8 months.
This is a surprisingly intense cuvée, with a complex, gourmand nose. On the palate, the attack is taut, invigorating and straightforward, evolving mid-palate towards fruity and floral notes.
The finish is fresh and saline.
