Cristal Rosé 2008 is an exceptional cuvée offering an incredible palette of aromas.
This champagne blends 56% Pinot Noir and 44% Chardonnay. A portion of these wines (17%) is vinified in wood to add a touch of patina and complexity.
The production of Cristal Rosé is totally unique in Champagne. Roederer has developed a unique technique called "infusion". It's a technique that extracts the juiciness and ripeness of the Pinot Noir grapes, while preserving their freshness. A portion of the Chardonnays is poured into a maceration of Pinots Noirs, to ferment together and integrate perfectly.
Malolactic fermentation was partially carried out (on 16% of the wines) to add a touch of roundness.
Cristal Rosé 2008 Roederer is aged for 8 years in bottle in the house cellars, before being disgorged, dosed as Brut (8g/l) and rested for 8 months.
This champagne has a brilliant pink color with salmon highlights.
Its bouquet is delicate and subtle. The first nose reveals notes of flower petals and dried fruit. Then come the tart red berries of redcurrant and wild strawberry that characterize Roederer's old vines of Pinots Noirs d'Ay.
On the palate, the attack is juicy and fleshy, with an immediate, intense freshness. Powdery notes, both liquid and solid, recall the tannins of perfectly ripe, lignified pips.
The palate is highly complex, with a wealth of flavors, powerful, intense, rich and fresh.
The finish is sustained by a fine mineral presence and ends on a touch of acidity.
