The Brut Nature Rosé 2018 by Starck from Louis Roederer Champagne is an avant-garde cuvée, born from the collaboration between Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon and designer Philippe Starck. Together, they have created a champagne that is free, sincere, and luminous. Presented here in a bottle with a gift box, this vintage embodies the energy of the terroir and the purity of an undosed wine, vibrant with life and balance.
From the 2018 vintage, a sunny and generous year, this characterful rosé combines the density of Pinot Noir with the verticality of Chardonnay. The entire vinification process takes place in wood and the absence of dosage emphasizes the wine's integrity and aromatic intensity. It is a brut nature rosé that is precise, salty, and of rare depth.
The production of Brut Nature Rosé 2018 by Starck
This cuvée is the freest expression of Maison Louis Roederer. The symbiotic relationship between the vines, the chalk and the vintage results in a champagne that is both pure and vibrant. The short maceration of the Pinot Noirs and the immediate blending with the Chardonnays and Meuniers produce a wine with natural energy and remarkable precision.
- Pinot Noir brings structure, energy, and red fruit.
- Chardonnay brings freshness, brightness, and purity.
- Meunier brings suppleness, white fruit, and mineral softness.
The terroir
The Brut Nature Rosé 2018 comes from the Cumières vineyard, facing south on the right bank of the Marne. The clay-limestone soil captures light and heat, producing ripe grapes with dense flesh. The proximity of the river softens the microclimate and maintains constant freshness in the soil. This rare combination gives the wine a salty tension and vibrant texture.
Vinification
The grapes are pressed whole before undergoing a light maceration. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts and without any dosage, in order to preserve the aromatic purity. Around 25% of the wines are vinified in wood, enhancing the texture and complexity. No sugar is added after disgorging: the balance comes solely from the maturity of the fruit.
This 2018 Brut Nature Rosé aged for nearly four years on lees before disgorging, then benefited from additional rest in the cellar. Its crystalline precision and ample texture make it a sincere and vibrant terroir rosé.
The 2018 vintage
2018 is a vintage of abundance and harmony. After a rainy winter and a mild spring, the hot, dry summer allowed the grapes to reach full maturity. The Pinot Noirs achieved exceptional richness while retaining their freshness. A sunny, controlled, balanced vintage that produces deep, limpid wines, carried by a calm energy.
In this cuvée, 2018 marks the meeting of power and fluidity. The structure of the Pinot Noir blends into the crystalline texture of the Chardonnay, forming a whole of rare elegance.
