The production of Champagne Louis Roederer's 2016 Blanc de Blancs cuvée
The wines selected for this cuvée are mainly vinified in stainless steel vats to preserve their purity. 28% of the wines are fermented in oak barrels, which adds breadth and power to the wine. Malolactic fermentation is blocked to preserve freshness and tension. The dosage is measured at 7 g/L.
The 2016 vintage
The 2016 vintage was characterized by contrasting weather conditions: a late, cool spring followed by a dry, hot summer, ideal for optimal grape ripening. This year produced a wine combining energy, finesse, and aromatic complexity.
The terroir
The Avize vineyard, located on the Côte des Blancs, benefits from rich white limestone soils that give the wine an intense minerality and beautiful structure, typical signatures of Champagne Chardonnay.
The advantages of the magnum
The magnum, with a capacity of 1.5 liters, is the ideal format for slower aging and better preservation of aromas. The ratio of air to wine in the bottle, which is lower than in a standard bottle, limits oxidation and promotes a more harmonious and complex evolution of the wine. Visually impressive, it is perfect for special occasions and moments of sharing, offering around 12 glasses to enjoy.
