The Blanc de Blancs 2014 crafted by the House of Louis Roederer is a cuvée of great freshness, with a fine, pleasantly sapid finish.
This champagne is made exclusively from Chardonnay from Avize, a Grand Cru terroir in the Côte des Blancs, renowned for the exceptional quality of its grapes. This cuvée is vinified partially in wood (23%), and malolactic fermentation has been omitted to preserve all the freshness of this wine. The bottles were matured for 5 years in the company's own cellars, and the wine is blended at 8 g/L Brut.
The year 2014 was marked by a magnificent, dry spring, a cool, rainy autumn summer and a hot, sunny and very dry September, worthy of an August.
This champagne has a brilliant golden color with slight green highlights, and its effervescence is soft, slow and regular.
The nose reveals a very pure, delicate and airy bouquet, with nuances of delicate flowers such as honeysuckle and jasmine, as well as notes of ripe, almost roasted citrus fruit. It then opens with iodized, sea-breeze sensations, combined with the warm, sweet notes of pastries just out of the oven.
On the palate, the wine is dense, finely zesty and invigorating, with a fresh, energetic attack. The palate reveals iodine and pleasant notes of citrus, almond, wheat and Madagascar vanilla. The finish is light and mineral, but surprises with a real final acceleration thanks to its racy tannins and roasted spices.
