Description

The Reflets de la Haute Vallée du Champagne R. Faivre cuvée pays tribute to the terroir of Belval-sous-Châtillon, the birthplace of the house. It brings together the three traditional Champagne grape varieties: Pinot Noir (38%), Meunier (22%) and Chardonnay (40%). Made from the 2022 harvest and supplemented with 70% reserve wines (2019 and 2020), this Extra Brut cuvée combines aromatic richness and mineral tension.

The production of Champagne R. Faivre Reflets de la Haute Vallée

The blend combines the three traditional Champagne grape varieties in a carefully studied balance: 38% Pinot Noir for structure, 22% Meunier for fruity roundness and 40% Chardonnay for freshness and tension. This balance creates a harmonious profile that combines power and elegance.

  • Pinot Noir (38%) brings density, structure, and length.
  • Meunier (22%) adds suppleness, fruitiness, and a velvety texture.
  • Chardonnay (40%) offers freshness, tension, and brightness.

The terroir

The grapes come from Belval-sous-Châtillon, in the heart of the Marne Valley. The brown, clay-dominated soils on hard limestone ensure a balance between power and minerality. David Faivre selects several of his plots located on the varied slopes of the "Haute Vallée."

Vinification

Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by complete malolactic fermentation to round out the texture. Light filtration and cold stabilization precede bottling. The cuvée rests for 24 months in the cellar before disgorging. The Extra Brut dosage (2 g/L) highlights the wine's integrity and natural elegance. An approach that combines technical precision and expression of the terroir.

The 2022 harvest and reserve wines

The 2022 base brings generosity and aromatic brilliance, while the 2019 and 2020 reserve wines add depth and complexity. This blending process gives the cuvée a mature character and harmonious tension. The chalky freshness of the Chardonnay balances the vinosity of the Pinot Noir and the roundness of the Meunier, resulting in a long and sapid finish.

Storage and serving

How to store this vintage

Store Reflets de la Haute Vallée in a cellar at a temperature between 50 and 54°F, away from light and vibrations. Thanks to its balance between vinosity and freshness, it can be stored for 6 to 8 years. Over time, it will develop aromas of hazelnut, honey, and brioche, while retaining its chalky texture.

Aging potential

Optimal window: 2025–2033. 2025–2027: vibrant fruit and crisp freshness. 2028–2031: broader texture, toasted and honeyed notes. 2032–2033: evolved complexity, balance between richness and tension.

How to serve Reflets de la Haute Vallée

We recommend serving Reflets de la Haute Vallée at 9–10°C in tulip or narrow-bowled glasses. A few minutes of aeration will bring out the buttery nuances and chalky minerality.
