The Rich from Pol Roger is a sweet Champagne, halfway between dry and semi-dry. The blend is made with one third of each of the three main grape varieties of Champagne: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
To this blend is added a dosage of 35g per liter. This dosage is composed of wine and cane sugar, and it is what gives the Rich Pol Roger cuvée its heady character.
The wines that make up this cuvée come from at least two different vintages and sometimes up to four. They ferment in separate cuvées according to their origin in order to preserve the primary aromas of the wine. This cuvée is aged for at least three years in the cellars of the Pol Roger house, the deepest in Epernay.
The Rich cuvée from Pol Roger is a wine with a deep, dense golden yellow color, enhanced by subtle coppery highlights.
It has a creamy, diffuse effervescence, produced by a semi-fine, regular bubble structure.
The Rich has a frank and balanced nose, blending generous notes of dried fruit, heady floral fragrances and woody aromas. After a few moments, a slight hint of spice appears.
On the palate, the attack is full and complex, showcasing fruity flavors and spicy notes.
The finish is marked by beautiful hints of blond caramel.
