Perfectly faithful to Rare Champagne's signature style, this 2008 vintage offers the certainty of unlimited potential for growth, youthfulness, and complexity.
The 2008 vintage is one of the finest in recent years in Champagne. A rainy winter was followed by a mild spring and, above all, a beautiful September, resulting in superb grapes at harvest time. 2008 is undoubtedly an exceptional year in Champagne.
Rare 2008 is a champagne made from 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir, exclusively from Grands and Premiers Crus. The bottles are aged on lees for at least 10 years to enhance and develop the wine's aromatic bouquet.
On the eye, the intensity of the crystalline gold color evokes yellow diamonds, dotted with a fine and joyful effervescence.
The nose initially reveals the straightforward purity of this vintage. As it warms in the glass, the bouquet unfolds infinitely fragrant notes of orange blossom, hyacinth and white flowers, then opens up to notes of vanilla blossom, fresh coconut, Williams pear, fresh almond, mandarin and blackcurrant buds. On the second nose, the minerality, salty and refined, creates a harmonious combination of iodine and smoke, enhanced by a hint of licorice.
On the palate, the aromatic sensations follow one another with notes of fresh pineapple, passion fruit, kiwi, coconut and tangy citrus fruits. Finally, the finish, punctuated by remarkable salinity and iodine, prolongs this discovery of a pure and infinite spring.
The exceptional complexity of this Rare 2008 champagne pairs beautifully with oysters, grilled sole with mint sabayon and candied peppers, or even milk chocolate or mango.
