      Description

The Cuvée 1522 Premier Cru Rosé 2014 brilliantly illustrates Philipponnat's expertise in producing gourmet rosé champagnes. Carefully blended, this wine reveals all the richness of Pinot Noir combined with the finesse of Chardonnay. Aged for a long time in the cellar, it offers remarkable aromatic complexity, intertwining fruity notes, spicy touches, and refined minerality.

The production of Philipponnat's Cuvée 1522 Premier Cru Rosé 2014

This champagne is the result of an exceptional blend that showcases the great terroirs of Champagne:

      • 82% Pinot Noir: from the vineyardsof Ay, Mailly and Verzy, it provides structure and depth.
      • 17% Chardonnay: from the heights of Verzy, it brings freshness and balance.
      • 8% Pinot Noir vinified as red wine: selected in Mareuil-sur-Ay, it intensifies the fruity aromas and gives the wine a beautiful signature.

The vinification is based on a traditional method that promotes the natural expression of the fruit. Part of the wine is fermented in wood without malolactic fermentation to preserve its freshness and aging potential. The rosé color of this cuvée is obtained by adding a still Pinot Noir from the prestigious Clos des Goisses. With an extra-brut dosage (4.25 g/l), the wine retains absolute purity and remarkable precision.

Thanks to eight years of extended aging on lees, this cuvée reaches ideal maturity while retaining the liveliness essential to its balance.

      The 2014 vintage

The year 2014 was marked by atypical weather in Champagne. After a mild and wet winter, the spring was dry and sunny, favoring early bud break. However, the cool and rainy summer required increased vigilance to preserve the health of the grapes. Thanks to rigorous sorting during the harvest, the grapes picked between September 13 and 25 offered beautiful aromatic concentration.

The terroirsof Ay and Mareuil-sur-Ay, where Pinot Noir expresses itself with power and generosity, produced wines of great intensity, with notes of ripe fruit and a firm structure. In Mailly and Verzy, located on the Montagne de Reims, Pinot Noir distinguished itself with its finesse and mineral tension. As for the Chardonnay from Verzy, it brought the touch of elegance and freshness necessary for the cuvée's balance. Despite contrasting conditions, this vintage is characterized by great aromatic precision and excellent aging potential.
