Cuvée Grand Blanc 2008 is an exceptional champagne made exclusively from Chardonnay from Premiers and Grands Crus (Côte des Blancs, village of Trépail and Clos des Goisses).
It's a cuvée that stands out in the Philipponnat range, which is dominated by Pinot Noir. It's a Blanc de Blancs that lets you discover the house's savoir-faire, and what's more, on a great vintage.
The summer of 2008 was cool, followed by a warm, sunny September, which produced some beautiful, highly concentrated grapes.
The Grand Blanc 2008 Philipponnat was vinified partly in vats, for which partial malolactic fermentation was carried out, and partly in oak barrels, for which malolactic fermentation was blocked.
The dosage is extra brut (4.25 g/l) to preserve its original purity.
Grand Blanc 2008 Philipponnat has a light gold color, with fine, lively bubbles.
On the nose, this champagne evokes notes of citrus peel and white flowers, followed by a touch of white pepper and spices.
On the palate, this is a cuvée with a creamy texture that then evolves on notes of mirabelle plum. The finish has a lovely minerality.
