      Description

The 2019 vintage from G.H. Mumm is a masterful expression of a sunny and generous year. This great Champagne embodies the House's signature style, blending boldness, precision, and elegance in perfect balance. Revealing an aromatic complexity where ripe fruit rubs shoulders with pastry notes of brioche and honey, it offers a tasting experience marked by a vibrant mineral tension. It is a vintage for gastronomy, designed to enhance the finest dishes thanks to its purity and length on the palate.

The making of the 2019 G.H. Mumm Vintage

This vintage is the result of a rigorous selection of the best wines of 2019. True to the House style, the blend gives pride of place to the power of Pinot Noir, G.H. Mumm's historic grape variety, which brings structure and vinosity. It is complemented by the elegance of Chardonnay, giving the wine its finesse and airy profile. Aging in cellars has allowed the natural richness of the vintage to be integrated while developing delicious tertiary aromas of toasted almonds and toast.

      The Terroir

The Pinot Noir grapes come mainly from the Montagne de Reims, offering density and character, and the Chardonnays from the Côte des Blancs, guaranteeing freshness and mineral tension. This diversity of Grand and Premier Cru terroirs allows us to compose a precise and complex picture of the wine-growing year in Champagne.

      Vinification

The vinification process is carried out with clockwork precision to preserve the purity of the fruit. The Cellar Master ensures that a perfect balance is maintained between the roundness provided by the ripeness of the grapes and the mineral tension necessary for the wine's longevity. The effervescence, crafted to be fine and persistent, acts as a flavor enhancer, highlighting the wine's airy texture without ever overpowering it.

      The 2019 vintage

The year 2019 in Champagne is described as exceptional, marked by contrasting weather conditions that resulted in a high-quality harvest. After a sometimes capricious spring, the hot, dry summer allowed the grapes to reach ideal maturity, bursting with sugar and aromas, while retaining a beautiful acidity. This vintage is characterized by its natural richness, offering wines that are concentrated, fruity, and have great aging potential.

      Storage and serving tips

How should this champagne be stored?

This cuvée is delivered in a plain bottle. It is therefore essential to protect it immediately from light (natural and artificial) to avoid aromatic defects. Store it horizontally in a cool (10-12°C), humid cellar away from vibrations to ensure its harmonious development.

      Aging potential

G.H. Mumm's 2019 vintage is a wine made for aging. Its optimal drinking window spans several decades:

      • 2025–2029: The wine expresses its freshness, notes of ripe yellow fruit, and lively candied citrus.
      • 2030–2034: It gains roundness and complexity, developing aromas of brioche, honey, and toasted almonds.
      • From 2035 onwards: The cuvée reveals its fullness and patina, with more pronounced toasted and spicy notes.

      Serving suggestions

To appreciate the full richness of this vintage, serve it at a temperature between 46 and 50°F. A large white wine glass will allow the complex aromas of brioche and ripe fruit to fully blossom.

      Anecdote about this cuvée

G.H. Mumm only produces vintage wines in years when nature offers perfect balance and remarkable typicity. The 2019 vintage is in line with the House's great classics, reaffirming its motto "Only the best," established by Georges Hermann Mumm in 1876. It is a liquid testimony to a sunny year, captured with the precision of the Mumm style.

The blend is traditionally dominated by Pinot Noir for structure and power, complemented by Chardonnay for finesse and elegance.

Its complexity and structure allow it to accompany fine dishes such as seafood, delicate fish, or poultry with truffles.

The notes of candied citrus fruits reflect the beautiful ripeness of the grapes harvested in 2019, bringing a delicious freshness that balances the richness of the wine.

It is essential to store it in complete darkness, as glass does not protect wine from UV rays. A cool, dark cellar is the ideal place.
