The 2016 Exception Blanche completes the Maison Mailly Grand Cru range, incorporating grapes from another terroir into its blend for the first time. Exception Blanche is therefore composed of 50% Chardonnays from the estate, blended with 50% Chardonnays from Grands Crus plots in the Côte des Blancs in a vintage that was exceptional for its generous harvest, perfect health, and beautiful ripeness.
This cuvée reveals a golden yellow color, sparkling with green-gold highlights and dotted with fine, abundant bubbles.
The nose opens with elegant citrus notes, then evolves towards a touch of white fruit. After a few minutes, the aromatic palette enriches and reveals more pastry notes.
The palate is extremely delicate, starting with a lively, frank attack, then rounding out in the mid-palate, with a chiseled texture highlighting chalky and lemony notes.
Exception Blanche 2016 is a full-bodied, powerful and distinguished Champagne that will brighten up high-end aperitifs, accompanying oysters and caviar to bring out its minerality.
Limited production in special numbered white bottles.
