The Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru cuvée produced by the Le Mesnil cooperative is a champagne of purity and delicacy, punctuated by a gourmet touch.
The Coopérative du Mesnil-sur-Oger is one of only two Champagne cooperatives authorized to use the village's name as a trademark. Mesnil-sur-Oger is one of the most emblematic villages of the Côte des Blancs. It's a terroir with chalky, poor soils that force the vines to plunge deep into the soil for nourishment. The result is grapes of great freshness and immense minerality.
This cuvée Extra Brut is the fruit of a blend of 3 years' harvests, the most recent of which is 8 years old. This long ageing allows the wine to soften and round out, allowing the terroir to offer a different interpretation, with more evolved, gourmet aromas.
Vinified in stainless steel tanks to retain maximum freshness and lightness, the wine is then bottled and lowered into cellars several dozen meters underground.
The dosage is light, at 5g/L, to complement the wine's finesse.
Cuvée Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Le Mesnil is straw-gold in color, with numerous fine bubbles.
On the nose, this cuvée reveals lovely notes of citrus and ripe fruit.
On the palate, the attack is pleasant, with pronounced citrus notes. The mid-palate is dense and firm, followed by a crystalline, limpid finish that vibrates for long seconds.
A magnificent cuvée that will be a fine match for seafood.
