The 168th edition of Krug Grande Cuvée, here in magnum, once again highlights the unique expertise of the Krug house.
Since 1843, Krug Grande Cuvée has embodied the champagne that the house's founder, Joseph Krug, wanted to offer his customers, so that they could enjoy the best Champagne has to offer every year, regardless of the vagaries of the weather.
This 168th edition brings together 198 different wines from the Krug vineyards and vintages ranging from 1996 to 2012.
The 2012 vintage, which accounts for the majority of this Grande Cuvée, is one of the finest in recent years, offering berries that are both very ripe and very well balanced.
The 168th edition is a blend of 52% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 13% Pinot Meunier. True to the Krug style, all wines are vinified and aged in oak barrels.
After bottling, the 168th edition of La Grande Cuvée spent 7 years in the Reims cellars before being released on the market.
The 168th edition of La Grande Cuvée has a golden color with delicate reflections, studded with lively, fine bubbles.
The nose reveals notes of citrus, marzipan and ginger.
On the second nose, notes of dried fruit stand out.
The 168th edition of La Grande Cuvée Krug lends itself beautifully to pairing with gourmet cuisine.
