Krug Rosé 28th Edition is a singular, unexpected and refined cuvée, illustrating Krug's mastery of blending. Presented in its elegant signature box, this edition marries the intensity of Pinot Noir with the elegance of Chardonnay and the roundness of Meunier, to offer a rosé champagne with a bold personality and remarkable depth.
Comprising 32 wines from 6 different years, the youngest from the 2016 harvest and the oldest from 2010, Krug Rosé 28th Edition is the fruit of a complex, harmonious blend. This champagne is aged for nearly 7 years in the cellar to reach perfect maturity and reveal its full aromatic potential.
Composition: 58% Pinot Noir (including 10% traditionally macerated Pinot Noir from the Aÿ and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ plots), 25% Chardonnay and 17% Meunier. This subtle dosage gives the wine structure, freshness and texture.
The 2016 harvest, the base year for this edition, was marked by extreme weather conditions. A rainy, difficult spring gave way to a more favorable period, punctuated by intense heat at the end of the cycle. This contrasting climate produced rich, lively wines, which form the backbone of this edition 28.
Deep salmon, brilliant and elegant, with fine, persistent bubbles.
The nose reveals bright aromas of redcurrant, raspberry jelly, cherry pit and blood orange, enhanced by hints of pastry and lemon meringue.
The palate is generous and intense, marked by red fruits such as cherry, raspberry and blackcurrant. It evolves towards sweeter nuances of crushed vine peach and strawberry salad with basil. The finish is energetic, with good tension on citrus, grapefruit and lime zest.
