With Le Ciergelot 2020, Joseph Perrier continues to explore the purest expression of its historic terroirs through its "Parcellaires" collection. Made exclusively from Meunier and a single emblematic parcel, this Brut Nature asserts a precise, lively style. A rare champagne, produced in limited quantities, it embodies the authenticity and savoir-faire of the house.
Champagne Le Ciergelot 2020 is made from a single parcel, ZD214, located in Verneuil in the Marne Valley. Planted in 1969 at mid-slope, it extends over 80 ares and rests on moderate clay-limestone soil. The south-facing aspect guarantees optimum ripeness, while natural grassing and mechanical ploughing ensure the vineyard's balance and vitality.
This champagne is made exclusively from Meunier, the emblematic grape variety of the Marne Valley. It is a single-varietal, single-plot, single-millilage cuvée. Respecting the identity of the terroir and the grape variety, the house has chosen a zero dosage (0 g/L) to reveal all the purity of the fruit. This first edition is extremely confidential, with only 4,992 bottles and 224 magnums produced.
The 2020 vintage in Champagne was marked by ideal climatic conditions: moderate heat, regular sunshine and well-distributed rainfall. The grapes reached perfect ripeness while retaining their freshness. The Meunier grape particularly stood out in this vintage, offering rich, expressive and well-balanced wines, perfectly captured in this Le Ciergelot 2020 cuvée.
The color of Cuvée Le Ciergelot 2020 is a brilliant pale yellow, slightly tinged with silver. The effervescence is fine and regular.
The nose reveals aromas of ripe white fruit (pear, apple), accompanied by subtle floral notes and a delicately chalky touch characteristic of the terroir.
On the palate, the attack is frank and lively. The mid-palate is juicy and saline, with crisp fruit flavors and great purity. The finish is straightforward and taut, with a fine mineral persistence.
The price of the bottle of Champagne Joseph Perrier Le Ciergelot 2020 is 76,95 €. This confidential cuvée will appeal to lovers of pure, unadorned champagnes de terroir.
To choose Le Ciergelot 2020 is to choose a rare champagne, authentically revealing all the singularity of the Meunier grape on an exceptional terroir. Its purity of expression and liveliness make it an ideal choice for connoisseurs in search of true emotions.
The "Le Ciergelot" parcel, cultivated for decades by Maison Joseph Perrier, is a true family treasure. This parcel-based project is a way of paying tribute to this history by finally revealing the full potential of this preserved terroir, through a 100% Meunier and 100% natural cuvée.
