The Cuvée Fût de Chêne MV is emblematic of the Henri Giraud house. It is a founding cuvée in the history of the house, defining its style.
The Cuvée Fût de Chêne MV17 (for Multi Vintage base 2017) is therefore built around the 2017 harvest, which represents two-thirds of the blend. It is complemented by wines from a perpetual reserve started in 1990.
True to the house style, Pinot Noir is the dominant grape (80%), accompanied by beautiful Chardonnays from Aÿ. The wines are vinified and aged in oak barrels for one year. Half of the barrels used are new, which gives them a more pronounced woody note.
This cuvée is incredibly complex and rich, thanks to the Grand Cru terroir of Aÿ, but also to the oak trees of the Argonne forest, which give it its characteristic velvety texture.
The Fût de Chêne MV17 Henri Giraud has an intense, deep color.
Its nose reveals rich, indulgent notes reminiscent of ripe fruit and spices.
On the palate, it is a wine with a straightforward, tense attack, which then opens up to a silky mouthfeel. A hint of salt and minerality awakens the taste buds. The finish is fresh, carried by a slight menthol presence.
A magnificent cuvée for connoisseurs.
