The production of Champagne Gosset Grand Millésime 2016
Blend
Grand Millésime 2016 is the result of a precise blend that highlights the balance between tension and generosity:
- Chardonnay (61%) brings lemony freshness, floral elegance, and a touch of saltiness that structures the finish.
- Pinot Noir (39%) confers vinosity, fruity fullness, and remarkable aromatic depth.
Terroirs
The grapes come exclusively from rigorously selected grands and premiers crus: Ambonnay, Aÿ, Chamery, Cramant, Mailly, Mesnil-sur-Oger, Pierry, Trépail, and Vertus. These terroirs, located on the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs, offer a perfect balance between power, finesse, and minerality.
Vinification and aging
Vinification is carried out according to the House's traditional expertise: malolactic fermentation is avoided to preserve the natural acidity and purity of the aromas, followed by prolonged aging on lees and then cellaring in June 2017. The wine aged for several years in the House's cellars, before a further six months of rest after disgorging. The dosage, measured at 4 g/L, makes it a balanced Extra Brut.
2016 Vintage
The year 2016 was marked by climatic contrasts. After a wet and difficult spring, the dry and sunny summer produced concentrated grapes that were perfectly ripe and in excellent condition. The harvest produced balanced juices, combining richness and liveliness. In this context, Gosset has created a champagne of remarkable freshness, with vibrant fruit and beautiful complexity. The Grand Millésime 2016 expresses all the tension and energy of this unique year.
