This Special Club is the prestige cuvée of Maison Pierre Gimonnet. It is a Blanc de Blancs champagne blended from old vines in Cramant, Chouilly, and Cuis.
2016 was a vintage marked by extreme weather conditions. In the spring, heavy frosts and intense rains encouraged the spread of mildew, leading to losses. The summer, on the other hand, was very dry, slowing down the growth of the grapes. The young berries, exposed to intense sun and high heat, were partially burned or dried out. But all these climatic contrasts reveal a wine with a harmonious balance.
The Cramant Grand Cru terroir accounts for 58% of the blend, with vines planted between 1911 and 1913. Chouilly accounts for 27% of the blend and Cuis 15%.
This cuvée benefits from aging on lees for over five years to develop its complexity.
The 2016 Gimonnet Special Club is distinguished by a very silky texture, finesse, and elegance worthy of the greatest Champagne cuvées.
