The production of Les Houardes 2022 Domaine Georges Rémy
This cuvée highlights meticulous plot work and natural vinification. Each step is carried out with precision to preserve the integrity of the fruit and the terroir.
The terroir
The Les Houardes plot covers 9.13 acres. Located on clay-limestone soil, it benefits from a south/southwest exposure that promotes beautiful ripeness in the Chardonnay while preserving its structuring acidity. Single Guyot pruning allows the vigor of the vines to be controlled and the quality of the harvested grapes to be optimized.
Vinification
The 2022 harvest had an estimated alcohol content of 12.4% vol., reflecting ideal ripeness. Fermentation was carried out with indigenous yeasts, ensuring an authentic expression of the terroir. The wine was aged in oak barrels from October 2022 to January 2024, with a single racking before bottling in February 2024. No fining or filtration was carried out in order to preserve the substance and complexity of the wine.
The 2022 vintage
The year 2022 offered favorable climatic conditions, with a hot summer punctuated by rains that helped preserve the balance of the vines. The Chardonnay harvested from the Houardes plot showed excellent maturity, producing a straightforward, structured wine with great aromatic purity.
