The name "Trop M'en Faut" is a play on words on "Fromenteau" (the Champagne name for Pinot Gris), which could be translated as "So good that I'll never have too much!" With this new cuvée from Drappier, we rediscover the taste of wines from yesteryear, with 100% Fromenteau expression.
Pinot Gris, a copper-skinned grape variety that was once very common in the Aube region, was used to make wines known as "gris" (gray). Rich, silky, and full-bodied, Fromenteau, which is very rare today, produces a golden juice with notes of forgotten fruits.
The Drappier house experimented with this grape variety in 2015 and is now continuing the experiment with a blend of the 2017 and 2018 harvests. The vineyard, located in the Urville terroir (Côte des Bars), is organically farmed. The minerality of the limestone contrasts with the almost exotic roundness of the Pinot Gris.
This Champagne hillside wine has a pale gold color and reveals beautiful notes of ripe mirabelle plum and acacia honey, with a silky finish that is not at all sweet.
This extremely rare cuvée was produced in a limited edition of only 375 bottles.
