The Drappier cuvee Charles de Gaulle was the General’s favorite champagne. It was thanks to his aide-de-camp Colonel de Bonneval that he discovered Drappier champagne and became one of their most faithful customers, and his property La Boisserie at Colombey-Les-Deux-Eglises was only a short distance from the Drappier domain.

It was in 1990 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the General’s famous call to resistance speech on the 18th June 1940 that the cuvee Charles de Gaulle was conceived, based on the blend that the General was so fond of : 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay.

This champagne with its intensely gold robe offers red fruits on the nose, evolving towards patisseries and gingerbread.

The mouth is full, smoothly creamy with great character, fruit and elegance.

The final is long lasting with a light touch of fine acidity.

Charles de Gaulle by Drappier can be enjoyed on its own, as an aperitif, or as a fine accompaniment to a dish of white meat or grilled fish.
