The Charles Heidsieck House has exceptionally opened its wine cellar to offer a few bottles of the exceptional 1981 Blanc de Blancs. Only 251 bottles, for the entire world, are available for tasting.

In 1981, severe frosts in April and a long, sunny summer followed a mild, wet winter. The extremely short harvest took place during a warm, bright October, producing grapes with a beautiful balance between ripeness and freshness.

This superb Blanc de Blancs is made exclusively from the House's finest Chardonnays, which have been given a superb patina by time. The wine was disgorged in 1988.

This prestigious cuvée has a warm golden color, crossed by fine, energetic bubbles.

The bouquet initially reveals notes of candied citrus, toasted hazelnuts, mocha, and then minerality. The nose then opens up to more exotic notes of grapefruit and ginger, bringing great freshness to the wine. A few moments later, delicious notes of honey and nougat, followed by passion fruit and pineapple, complete this magnificent bouquet.

The Chardonnays are elevated to the highest level thanks to the beautiful acidity of the vintage, which brings astonishing freshness. On the first taste, notes of mint and eucalyptus surprise the palate, followed by notes of mocha and toasted bread. A zesty character, reminiscent of blood orange, finishes the wine beautifully.
