The 2016 vintage of Champagne Cazals is a Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru of remarkable finesse. This 100% Chardonnay champagne seduces with its purity, candied citrus notes, and mineral freshness. It is an ideal cuvée for an aperitif or to start a meal.
The 2016 vintage is made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes harvested in the Grand Cru terroirs of Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger, two iconic terroirs of the Côte des Blancs. Their chalky soils give the wine a minerality characteristic of the Côte des Blancs and a unique complexity.
The year 2016 was marked by unpredictable weather: heavy rain, late frosts, hail, and disease challenged the winegrowers. However, favorable conditions at the end of the season allowed for a harvest of excellent quality grapes, resulting in wines with remarkable potential.
Vinification took place in temperature-controlled vats, with malolactic fermentation to soften the natural acidity of the grapes. Aged on lees in the winery's vaulted cellars for six years, this cuvée was disgorged at the end of 2023 and benefits from a subtle dosage of 3 g/L, highlighting the richness of the vintage.
The 2016 vintage has a crystal-clear color with golden highlights, accompanied by dynamic effervescence and fine bubbles.
The nose reveals elegant aromas typical of Chardonnays from the Côte des Blancs: candied citrus fruits, pear, white flowers, complemented by iodine and menthol notes after opening.
On the palate, the attack is pure and deep, supported by beautiful minerality. The aromas on the nose are confirmed, with a long and refined finish.
The price per bottle of the 2016 Cazals vintage is 45,95 €. This Grand Cru cuvée is of exceptional quality, thanks in particular to its long aging.
