Clos Cazals Vieilles Vignes 2015 is an exceptional champagne from Maison Claude Cazals. A true expression of the Grand Cru d'Oger, this 100% Chardonnay reveals all the richness and minerality of this mythical terroir, thanks to patient ageing and expert cellar work.
Produced exclusively from the historic "Vieilles Vignes" plot planted in 1957 within Clos Cazals, this champagne embodies the soul of the Côte des Blancs. After alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in stainless-steel tanks, 20% of the wines are aged in oak barrels to enhance their complexity. Ageing on the lees lasts 9 years in the Maison's vaulted cellars, giving the wine depth and elegance. This cuvée is dosed at just 2 g/L to preserve all its aromatic purity.
The 2015 Champagne vintage was marked by extreme weather conditions. After a late spring, the spectacular dry summer enabled us to harvest grapes of exceptional sanitary quality, with a perfect balance between richness and freshness. This vintage is recognized as one of the finest of the decade, revealing expressive, deep champagnes with great ageing potential.
Clos Cazals Vieilles Vignes 2015 is brilliant pale gold in color, with light silver highlights. The effervescence is fine and dynamic, forming a generous sparkling cordon.
On the nose, this champagne reveals a discreet floral opening, marked by notes of white flowers andhawthorn, before blossoming into greedier aromas ofcandied citrus and fine pastry.
On the palate, the attack is frank and lively. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and chiselled, with a fine mineral tension characteristic of the Oger terroir.Citrus notes mingle with buttery touches, and the long, iodized finish brings freshness and persistence.
The price of a bottle of Clos Cazals Vieilles Vignes 2015 is 104,95 €. This exceptional Grand Cru embodies the quintessence of Côte des Blancs Chardonnay, between controlled power and pure elegance.
Hailed by connoisseurs and critics alike for its finesse and complexity, this cuvée is often cited as one of the finest expressions of the Oger terroir. Its long finish and ageing potential are impressive. See reviews on Clos Cazals Vieilles Vignes 2015.
Clos Cazals Vieilles Vignes 2015 can be enjoyed now for its tension and vibrancy, or cellared for 8-10 years to develop fuller, more complex notes. We recommend serving it between 10°C and 12°C in a tulip-shaped wine glass to fully appreciate its aromatic richness.
Clos Cazals is one of the few true Champagne clos, entirely walled in, planted by the Cazals family in 1957. This enchanting spot in Oger contains some of the oldest vines in the village, giving each cuvée incomparable depth and identity.
