The 2014 Clos Cazals magnum from Champagne Cazals is an iconic cuvée. Made from Chardonnay grapes grown in an exceptional vineyard, this magnum reveals a complexity and aromatic richness worthy of the greatest cuvées. In this generous format, this champagne reveals all its elegance and depth, offering an even more intense tasting experience.
Clos Cazals 2014 comes from an exceptional vineyard nestled in the village of Oger, in the heart of the prestigious Côte des Blancs. This historic vineyard is one of 21 officially recognized clos in Champagne. The grapes from these plots benefit from a unique microclimate thanks to the walls of the clos, which reflect the sun's heat, allowing the grapes to ripen optimally. Only the part of Clos Cazals planted in 1957, covering a total area of 3.7 hectares, is used to produce this cuvée, giving this champagne a rare authenticity and exclusivity.
The Oger terroir, classified as Grand Cru, is renowned for its chalk-rich soil, which gives the grapes their characteristic liveliness and minerality. Wines from this terroir often require several years of aging to reveal their full complexity. The 2014 vintage was marked by a rainy autumn and a mild winter, followed by contrasting weather throughout the year. These conditions produced grapes of exceptional quality, characterized by beautiful acidity and aromatic richness. The 2014 vintage is thus distinguished by perfect balance and a rich aromatic palette.
The Clos Cazals 2014 magnum is vinified in stainless steel vats to preserve the wine's freshness, while 20% of the blend is aged in oak barrels to add structure and complexity. The dosage is Extra-Brut, allowing the purity of the terroir to express itself fully. This meticulous work reveals the finesse and elegance of this exceptional champagne.
The Clos Cazals 2014 magnum has a pale, luminous gold color, enhanced by fine, persistent bubbles. The magnum format further accentuates the intensity of its color and effervescence.
The nose is both elegant and complex, opening with aromas of white flowers, candied citrus fruits and subtle toasted notes from oak aging. The chalky minerality of the Oger terroir reveals itself subtly, adding an extra dimension.
On the palate, the attack is frank and the texture creamy. Flavorsof citrus, pastry, and dried fruit mingle with a marked minerality, offering a long, persistent finish. The magnum format confers increased maturity, enriching the aromatic palette and offering an even more ample tasting experience.
The magnum, with its 1.5-liter capacity, offers undeniable advantages. Thanks to its volume, the champagne ages more slowly, developing more complex aromas and preserving its freshness. The lower proportion of air in the bottle means that the quality of the champagne is maintained over time, guaranteeing an exceptional tasting experience. Ideal for special occasions, the Clos Cazals 2014 magnum bottle serves around 12 glasses of champagne, adding a touch of elegance to any event. What's more, its majestic presence on the table makes it the perfect choice for marking important moments.
