Petit Mélange de la Maison Bonnet-Ponson is an atypical champagne, composed of seven Champagne grape varieties.
What makes this champagne unique is its blend of seven Champagne grape varieties centered around Petit Meslier, harvested on the last day of the harvest and blended at the time of pressing, hence the name Petit Mélange.
This cuvée is made from 28% Petit Meslier, 25% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay, 18% Meunier and 2% Arbanne, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. These grapes come from the terroirs of the Petite Montagne de Reims with Chamery, Vrigny and Coulommes.
The grapes, from the 2018 and 2019 harvests in equal proportions, are vinified and aged in a sandstone egg to give it a slight roundness. Fermentation is natural and there is no filtration, no sulfur, and no added sugar.
This Petit Mélange champagne is fresh with chalky, floral, iodine and lemony notes.
