The Riche "mag17" cuvée from Maison A.R. Lenoble is a semi-dry champagne, meaning it is sweeter than traditional champagnes.
This cuvée is made from a blend of 20% Chardonnay from Chouilly Grand Cru, 35% Pinot Noir from Bisseuil Premier Cru, and 45% Meunier from Damery. In addition to the different grape varieties, this is a blend of vintages, with "17" corresponding to the harvest year used as the basis for the blend, in this case 2017. The term "mag" means that part of the reserve wines have been aged in magnums, bringing precision and freshness to this cuvée.
The dosage of the Riche cuvée is high (32g of sugar per liter) to give a round and well-rounded cuvée.
This champagne has a deep, intense, and brilliant golden color. The mousse is dense and airy.
The bouquet is rich and expressive.
The wine is delicious with lovely notes of candied yellow fruit and a hint of dried and exotic fruits. The finish is clean and airy, enhanced by a beautiful, very pleasant acidity. The balance between the wine and the well-integrated dosage is surprising in its freshness.
The Riche "mag17" cuvée from A.R. Lenoble will find particular resonance with spicy dishes, such as Thai cuisine or some spicy Japanese dishes, but it will also enhance characterful cheeses such as Epoisse or Fourme d'Ambert.
