The 2012 Gentilhomme cuvée from Maison Lenoble is an exceptional Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs, a true tribute to the nobility of Champagne wines. Presented in an elegant box, this rare vintage is made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes from the Chouilly terroir. Born of a sunny and complex year, this wine has benefited from extended aging of more than 10 years in the cellar, giving it remarkable depth and patina. It is a gastronomic champagne, combining the chalky tension of the Côte des Blancs with autumnal and toasted aromatic richness.
This cuvée is 100% Chardonnay (Blanc de Blancs), produced only in great years. The grapes come exclusively from the Grand Cru village of Chouilly, and more specifically from a selection of the House's historic plots (Le Mont-Aigu, La Garenne du Vallon, Les Grandes Terres). This plot origin guarantees the purest and most noble expression of the terroir.
True to the House's artisanal expertise, part of the wine is aged in wood (228-liter barrels) to bring richness and complexity, while the rest is vinified in vats to preserve freshness. Time is of the essence here: the wine has been aged on lees for over 10 years in the historic cellars of AR Lenoble. The dosage is Extra-Brut (3 g/L), a minimalist finishing touch that respects the natural balance and maturity of the vintage.
2012 is considered one of the greatest vintages of recent decades in Champagne. Despite a chaotic growing season (frost, hail), the sunny end of the season allowed for a healthy harvest, with low yields but exceptional aromatic concentration. Le Gentilhomme 2012 captures this richness: it is a wine that is powerful, structured, and endowed with a vibrant acidity that ensures immense aging potential.
The color is an intense, brilliant gold, with a fine, persistent effervescence, a sign of long maturation in the cellar.
This cuvée opens with notes of praline, almond, and fresh hazelnut, accentuated by smoky hints. Small yellow fruits, accompanied by a touch of honey, emerge with aeration.
The attack on the palate is tangy and tense, with citrus fruits dominating the overall impression. The finish leaves us with hints of toast and roasted notes that are just beginning to emerge.
Protected by its box, this vintage is ideal for cellaring. Store it horizontally in a cool (10-12°C), dark cellar. Having already aged for over 10 years on lees, it offers great stability and will continue to improve for many years to come.
Le Gentilhomme 2012 is a wine with excellent aging potential.
Serve this great wine at a temperature of 10 to 12°C. A large white wine glass is recommended to allow the complex bouquet (praline, smoky) to express itself fully without rushing it.
The name "Gentilhomme" was chosen in homage to the history of the House. Armand-Raphaël Graser, founder of the estate in 1920, wanted to emphasize the "nobility" of Champagne wines by adding "Lenoble" to his initials "AR." This vintage cuvée embodies this aristocratic and elegant vision of wine, only seeing the light of day when nature offers a harvest worthy of the name.
