The Grande Réserve cuvée from Vilmart is a fine, energetic champagne with beautiful fruity notes, perfect as an aperitif.
Laurent Champs, representing the fourth generation, crafts this cuvée by blending 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. The grapes are sourced exclusively from the Premier Cru terroir of Rilly-la-Montagne.
The wines are then vinified and aged in oak barrels for 10 months. This aging process allows the wood to mellow the wines and tame the exuberance of the Rilly-la-Montagne grapes. Malolactic fermentation is not carried out in order to preserve a beautiful freshness.
The Grande Réserve Vilmart has a golden color, enlivened by fine, numerous bubbles.
The first nose reveals beautiful aromas of biscuit, ripe wheat, pear, and cherry.
On the second nose, more generous notes of undergrowth and sweet spices stand out, along with a hint of pastry (buttery and brioche).
The palate reflects this beautiful balance between primary (fruit), secondary (biscuit, bread, butter) and tertiary (mineral and spice) notes.
The finish is very elegant, with the freshness you expect from great champagnes.
The Grande Réserve by Vilmart is the perfect champagne for an aperitif, but it is also a cuvée that will pair beautifully with white meat, raw fish, or a well-aged hard cheese.
