    Description

The 2008 Vintage Rosé cuvée expresses the majesty of the Grands and Premiers crus of the Veuve Clicquot House.

Made from a blend of 61% Pinot Noir (Ambonnay, Bouzy, Tarifières, Avenay, Aÿ, Verzy, Verzenay, Ludes), 34% Chardonnay (Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Vertus) and 5% Pinot Meunier (Ludes, Dizy), this blended rosé was completed with 14% red wines from Bouzy. Fresh and crunchy, it will go perfectly with a polenta with squid ink, a tuna tournedos or even a roasted gambero rosso.

Like 2007, this Vintage cuvée has the particularity of containing 5% of wines vinified in wooden casks. The resulting micro-oxygenation and the wood of the walls help not only to intensify the natural aromas but also to increase the power of the champagne.

The 2008 vintage is, with 2002, the finest of the last decade with Chardonnays possessing exceptional freshness and Pinots offering rare elegance.

The dress, an elegant and luminous pink, offers light copper reflections.

The first nose is frank and pleasantly fruity. The fresh aromas of red fruits (strawberry, cherry, raspberry) mingle with citrus fruits in a delicate harmony. On the second nose, agitation reveals spicy notes (cinnamon, vanilla) on a gourmet brioche base.

The palate, of great breadth, is lively and frank. The roundness and fruitiness it shows is in perfect harmony with the nose. The balance is given by a beautiful freshness thanks to a sumptuous minerality. The finish presents an unsuspected length characteristic of a good aging potential (around 15 years).
