The production of Régis Poissinet’s L’Émergente champagne
The production of Régis Poissinet’s L’Émergente cuvée is based on a philosophy of precision and transparency. The house favors a dynamic approach, seeking to extract the quintessence of the fruit while preserving a backbone of acidity and minerality. This bottle is the result of meticulous craftsmanship, where every detail—from the vineyard to the cellar—is designed to foster the emergence of an airy and joyful style. The blend of this multi-vintage champagne is a feat of balance.
- 77% Meunier: The signature grape variety of the Marne Valley, it brings a supple structure, a rich white fruitiness, and a full-bodied texture that forms the heart of the cuvée.
- 23% Chardonnay: It acts as a catalyst for brightness, providing the necessary tension, delicate citrus notes, and a briny finish that prolongs the pleasure on the palate.
To perfect this blend, the house incorporates 11% reserve wines. These wines, carefully aged, provide the depth and complexity needed to harmonize the different vintages. The choice of Meunier as the dominant variety is no accident: it reflects the estate’s deep roots in the region while being crafted here with rare finesse, far removed from the sometimes heavy roundness often associated with this grape. It is a wine of character, straightforward and honest, that reveals itself without artifice.
The Terroir
The terroir from which the L’Émergente Champagne Régis Poissinet cuvée originates is located in the heart of the Marne Valley, an area renowned for the diversity of its soils and its contrasting climate. The plots selected for this bottle rest on clay-limestone and loamy-limestone soils. The clay gives the Meunier its power and structure, while the limestone imparts verticality and minerality to the Chardonnay. The vines, with an average age of 35 years, have developed a deep root system capable of drawing essential nutrients from the oldest geological layers. This maturity of the vines guarantees optimal aromatic concentration and consistent production, even in challenging weather years. Soil management that respects the ecosystem allows this terroir to fully express itself in every drop of this exceptional champagne.
Winemaking
The winemaking process for L’Émergente Champagne Régis Poissinet is a subtle blend of tradition and modernity. Malolactic fermentation is carried out for the entire cuvée, which helps round out the sometimes sharp acidity of the Meunier and imparts a silky patina to the wine’s texture. The aging strategy is particularly noteworthy and reflects the house’s pursuit of complexity:
- 78% in tanks: To preserve the fruit’s vibrancy, aromatic liveliness, and the purity of the lime and fresh pear notes.
- 22% in oak barrels: To provide a light structure, natural micro-oxygenation that helps the wine open up, and a very subtle hint of spicy complexity.
The dosage is kept at an Extra-Brut level (3g/l), which highlights the purity of the juice and respects the natural balance achieved during blending. Finally, the recent disgorgement, dated February 12, 2025, ensures maximum freshness when you open your bottle, guaranteeing intact energy and effervescence of great finesse.
The Vintages in the Blend
Unlike a classic vintage cuvée, L’Émergente champagne Régis Poissinet is a multi-vintage blend that draws its strength from the complementary nature of the vintages. The foundation of this bottle is the 2022 harvest, a sunny and balanced year, complemented by the 2020, 2019, and 2018 vintages. The 2018 vintage brings structure and power, 2019 tension and elegance, while 2020 infuses an immediate, luscious fruitiness. This layering of vintages creates a wine that is not subject to the vagaries of a single year, but draws on the best of each to offer a consistent and harmonious tasting experience. It is a celebration of the dynamics of time, where each harvest enriches the previous one to form a coherent and joyful whole.

Storage and Serving Tips
How should this champagne be stored?
To preserve all the qualities of this bottle of L’Émergente from Régis Poissinet Champagne, it is crucial to store it in a cool, dark cellar. The ideal temperature should be between 10 and 12°C, without sudden fluctuations that could alter the wine’s balance. Darkness is essential to prevent “light exposure,” which is particularly harmful to cuvées dominated by Chardonnay and fine Meunier. Humidity should be maintained at around 70% to ensure the cork remains airtight. Finally, store your bottle lying horizontally so that the wine remains in contact with the cork, thereby preventing any risk of drying out and premature oxidation.
Aging Potential
Régis Poissinet’s L’Émergente cuvée is designed to offer immediate enjoyment thanks to its crisp freshness. However, its multi-vintage blend and precise winemaking give it interesting aging potential. Starting in 2026, the wine will gain complexity and roundness, with more pronounced notes of ripe fruit. You can enjoy this bottle with pleasure until 2031 if storage conditions are maintained. Over time, the liveliness of lime will give way to nuances of light honey and dried fruit, while retaining that salty edge that defines the Irizée style.
Serving Suggestions
For optimal enjoyment, we recommend serving this champagne at a temperature between 8 and 10°C. Serving it too cold would mask the subtlety of the fresh pear aromas, while a temperature that is too high would accentuate the perception of the dosage, even if it is low. Use "tulip" glasses or tasting glasses that are wide enough to allow the wine to open up and express its full aromatic complexity. Avoid flutes that are too narrow, as they compress the aromas. Decanting is not necessary, as the wine already possesses a beautiful natural dynamism upon opening.
