The 2022 La Mignonnerie cuvée from Champagne R. Faivre is a unique champagne, made entirely from Pinot Blanc. An ancient and rare grape variety in Champagne, it finds unexpected expression here on the cool terroir of Belval-sous-Châtillon. The first harvest from the eponymous plot, this cuvée highlights the estate's bold vision: to revive a forgotten grape variety and reveal its full subtlety.
The result is a refined champagne with an exotic and floral profile, combining fullness and tension. An original interpretation of the Upper Marne Valley, combining richness and elegance.
Made entirely from Pinot Blanc grapes from the La Mignonnerie plot in Belval-sous-Châtillon, this wine has been crafted with precision.
The cuvée comes from the La Mignonnerie vineyard in Belval-sous-Châtillon, in the Upper Marne Valley. The brown, clay-rich soils on hard limestone provide a perfect balance between richness and freshness. The slightly cooler climate in this area allows the Pinot Blanc to ripen slowly, ensuring aromatic finesse and tension. The vineyard is managed using sustainable practices: grass cover, soil cultivation, and controlled yields.
Fermentation and aging take place entirely in oak barrels, allowing the wine to gain complexity and texture. Malolactic fermentation softens the acidity while maintaining the natural energy of the grape variety. Light filtration and natural cold stabilization precede bottling. The cuvée is then aged for 24 months in the cellar before disgorging. The minimal dosage (0.5 g/L) highlights the purity and delicacy of the fruit.
A bright and generous year, 2022 produced beautifully ripe grapes, balanced by preserved acidity. The Pinot Blanc, harvested for the first time on this plot, proved surprisingly expressive, with notes of ripe citrus, white almond, and exotic fruits. The cool terroir of Belval provides the necessary balance, resulting in a wine that is light, vibrant, and delicious all at once.
Pale yellow with golden highlights. Fine, regular bubbles.
Delicate and complex. Aromas of ripe pear, citrus fruit, white flowers and a hint of vanilla. After aeration: exotic fruits, acacia honey and fresh chalk. A generous and subtle nose.
Supple and caressing attack. Silky and airy texture, balanced by a salty tension. The wine stretches out with notes of fresh pineapple, pear, and orange zest. Long, fine, and mouthwatering finish.
La Mignonnerie 2022 pairs well with refined dishes that are both creamy and delicate. Its roundness and minerality make it an excellent companion for poultry, noble mushrooms, and mature cheeses.
Store La Mignonnerie 2022 at 10–11°C in a stable, dark, and humid cellar. The Pinot Blanc will evolve slowly, gaining roundness and complexity over the years. After 3 to 5 years, the wine will develop hints of honey and hazelnut. Aging potential: 7 to 9 years.
Optimal window: 2025–2033. 2025–2027: pure fruit and mineral tension. 2028–2030: fuller texture, toasty nuances. 2031–2033: aromatic depth, buttery notes and persistent salinity.
We recommend serving La Mignonnerie 2022 at 48–50°F in tulip glasses. A few minutes of aeration will reveal aromas of white fruit, vanilla, and chalky minerality.
