      Description

Le Fond du Bateau 2014, signed by Pertois-Lebrun, is a champagne with a remarkable balance between power and finesse, but also between aromatic generosity and soft minerality. It is the first single-vineyard cuvée from a collection of the House called "Les Fidèles."

This Blanc de Blancs is made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes grown on a plot planted in 1955 by the grandfather in the "Le Fond du Bateau" vineyard in Chouilly, a terroir classified as Grand Cru in the Côte des Blancs.

This cuvée was aged in concrete vats (47%) and oak barrels (53%) for 10 months and dosed very lightly at 2.5 g/L to preserve all its aromas. This champagne is aged in the House's cellars for a minimum of 6 years.

This champagne reveals a pale gold color with satiny highlights and fine bubbles.

The bouquet exudes subtle scents of ripe citrus fruits, exotic fruits (lychee, pineapple), slightly vanilla and toasted notes, and licorice, typical of the chalky soil of this terroir.

On the palate, the attack is supple and fresh, then opens up to a full and generous mid-palate. The lingering finish is supported by tart and chalky notes.

This Le Fond du Bateau 2014 champagne is perfect for accompanying spicy Thai or Indian cuisine, as well as Cantal, Parmesan, or long-aged sheep's milk cheeses.
