      Description

Fond du Bateau 2014, signed Pertois-Lebrun, is a champagne with a remarkable balance between power and finesse, but also between aromatic generosity and gentle minerality. This is the first plot-based cuvée from a House collection called "Les Fidèles".

This Blanc de Blancs is made exclusively from Chardonnay from a plot planted in 1955 by the grandfather in the area known as "Le Fond du Bateau" in Chouilly, a terroir classified as a Grand Cru in the Côte des Blancs.

This cuvée was aged in concrete vats (47%) and oak barrels (53%) for 10 months, with a very low dosage of 2.5 g/L to preserve all its aromas. This champagne matures in the House cellars for a minimum of 6 years.

This champagne reveals a pale gold color with satin highlights, criss-crossed by fine bubbles.

The bouquet exalts subtle scents of ripe citrus fruit, exotic fruit (lychee, pineapple), with hints of vanilla, toast and licorice, typical of the chalk of this terroir.

On the palate, the attack is supple and fresh, then opens onto an ample, generous palate. The lingering finish is supported by acidulous, chalky notes.

This Champagne Le Fond du Bateau 2014 is a perfect match for spicy Thai or Indian cuisine, as well as cantal, parmesan or long-aged sheep's milk cheese.
