The Rive Gauche/Rive Droite cuvée is a unique champagne, combining two exceptional terroirs. The left bank of the Marne provides Chardonnay grapes from the Grand Cru villages of Oiry, Avize, and Chouilly, while the right bank of the Marne produces superb Pinot Noir grapes from the village of Aÿ.
2014 was a good year, with a cold winter followed by a beautiful spring. The harvest began in September and produced very well-balanced wines.
The 2014 Rive Gauche/Rive Droite cuvée, produced by Jean-Paul Hébrart, is vinified in oak barrels and very lightly dosed (Extra Brut), offering great complexity. This is a prestigious cuvée to be reserved for (very) special occasions.
This is a cuvée that I imagined when I decided to draw on the richness and diversity of the estate, which stretches along both banks of the Marne.
I vinified the Rive Gauche/Rive Droite cuvée in wood, without filtration, and it is extremely lightly dosed.
I love the complexity, harmony, and controlled intensity of this cuvée.
