Freshness and vitality are the hallmarks of the Lanson style, so creating this Blanc de Blancs cuvée was an obvious choice for Hervé Dantan, the House's Cellar Master. Its delicacy and finesse are enhanced by a very pure, mineral finish and the characteristic freshness of the Lanson style.
This Blanc de Blancs is a blend of Chardonnay from the best Crus of the Côtes de Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. These two very different regions offer a unique balance to the wine between fine, elegant grapes and rich, fleshy grapes.
This blend is composed of the 2014 harvest as the base year, complemented by 40% reserve wines, some aged for over 20 years to bring consistency of style and aromatic depth.
To preserve its incomparable fruitiness and freshness, malolactic fermentation is not carried out. After bottling, the bottles are aged for five years in the cellars of the House to develop a subtle combination of complexity and vitality. After disgorging, the wine is dosed Brut at 7 g/L.
On the eye, this Blanc de Blancs has a bright golden color with green highlights, dotted with very fine, elegant bubbles.
The nose reveals fine, deep aromas of frangipane, dried fruit, and candied citrus. Notes of William pear, sesame seeds, lime blossom, and anise highlight the wine's mineral character.
On the palate, the wine is fresh and invigorating, carried by aromas of nougat and zesty notes. Hints of bark and a touch of chalk give way to a delicate, pure, salty finish.
A gastronomic Champagne, this Blanc de Blancs from Lanson is the perfect accompaniment to fresh, mineral and iodine-rich dishes, such as a carpaccio of scallops with lime and yuzu.
