Special Club 2006, the prestige cuvee from José Michel, is a champagne of great finesse.
The house of José Michel is accredited High Environmental Quality, awarded as a result of their efforts to reduce the level of treatments in the vineyard.
Special Club 2006 is a blend of 50% Pinot Meunier and 50% Chardonnay from low yielding old vines of over 70 years of age which produce grapes of great aromatic concentration.
This beautifully golden champagne with its fine and lively bubbles was vinified in stainless steel vats with a blend of wines matured in oak barrels, and has been dosed at 8g/l.
An intense aromatic complexity singularises the nose which is evocative of roses and white fruits, with more mature notes of dried fruits and hazelnuts on the second nose.
In the mouth Special Club reveals a texture which is silky and ample with expressive fruit completed by toasted aromas and delicately floral notes. The finish is clean, intense and vibrant.
Created in 1971, the ‘Club des Trésors de Champagne’ was originally formed by a dozen or so of the best growers in Champagne with the objective of promoting and explaining the unique nature of grower champagnes. Each member created a prestige champagne representing the very best of their art under the name ‘Special Club’.
And in 1988 a special bottle was created in order to reinforce the visual identity of this cuvee; a bottle still used today by the 26 current members of the Club des Trésors de Champagne.
