      Description

The Mon Village cuvée from Girard-Bonnet champagne is a tribute to the exceptional terroir of Mesnil-sur-Oger, where Paul Girard grew up. With its subtle aromas and chiseled palate, this 100% Chardonnay Grand Cru champagne is the perfect cuvée for an aperitif or to accompany a plate of oysters.

The production of Girard-Bonnet's Mon Village champagne

The Mon Village cuvée is made from 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay grapes from old vines in Mesnil-sur-Oger. This blend comprises 70% of the 2021 harvest and 30% of wines from the perpetual reserve. These reserves, stored in large oak casks, bring depth and complexity to this cuvée.

The vinification process relies on the use of indigenous yeasts and takes place entirely in oak barrels. The juices are aged on lees for several months, giving this champagne its richness and texture. With an extra-brut dosage of only 3 g/L of sugar, this cuvée retains all the purity and elegance of Chardonnay.

The terroir and philosophy of the estate

Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, located in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, is renowned for its clay-limestone soils on Campanian chalk. These characteristics give the wines a unique minerality and great aromatic purity. The Mon Village cuvée captures the essence of these soils, revealing a pure expression of the terroir.

The Girard-Bonnet estate is committed to organic and biodynamic practices and has been certified organic and Demeter since 2023. With practices such as eco-grazing, the use of herbal teas and the elimination of herbicides, the vineyard fully utilizes each plot to bring out its best potential.
