The production of the Narcevignes 2022 cuvée from Champagne Clément Bertrand
Narcevignes is a single-vineyard cuvée made from a unique location in the commune of Prouilly, in the Montagne de Reims. This little-known terroir reveals its full potential here through an old Meunier vineyard planted 45 years ago, perfectly exposed to the south.
The terroir
This sandy-loamy soil, which is well-drained and warms quickly, combined with the sun exposure, promotes the ripening of the grapes while maintaining a beautiful freshness. It is a terroir that produces straightforward, delicious, and always elegant wines.
Vinification
Clément Bertrand has created a true winemaker's wine: partial fermentation in oak barrels (40%), the rest in vats. Aged for 8 months on lees, without filtration, to preserve the authenticity of the wine. No dosage is added, allowing the Meunier to express itself in its purest form.
The 2022 vintage
The Narcevignes 2022 cuvée is not a vintage champagne in the regulatory sense, but a wine made exclusively from the 2022 harvest, without blending with reserve wines. This sunny vintage produces a generous, energetic and very delicious champagne.
Tasting notes
Color
Bright golden yellow with subtle coppery highlights. The effervescence is fine and regular.
Nose
Generous and spicy, it combines ripe yellow fruits (mirabelle plum, peach), citrus zest, fresh almond, and a touch of white pepper. A chalky sensation brings freshness and depth.
Palate
Lively and straightforward attack, tender but taut texture. Yellow fruits, a mouthwatering minerality and a clean, almost iodine-like finish. The whole is perfectly balanced.
