Garvaux 2019, produced by Christian Gosset, is a rosé champagne made using the saignée method that will delight the eyes and taste buds!
This cuvée is made from Pinot Noir grapes harvested on September 15, 2019, in the "Garvaux" vineyard in the village of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ Premier Cru. This plot, planted in 2010, is located halfway up the hillside and faces east.
The vinification is carried out entirely in oak barrels with a 3-day vatting period, as naturally as possible, without filtration or cold treatment. The wine is very lightly dosed at 2 g/L after disgorging in May 2023.
The color is exceptionally intense, reminiscent of Burlat cherries or very ripe raspberries.
The first nose confirms what the eye predicted, a very rich basket of black fruits, with blackberry, cooked blackcurrant, blueberry, and a hint of violet. Then, with aeration, peppery notes emerge.
On the palate, the attack is full, supple, and melt-in-the-mouth. The wine then reveals its opulent, voluminous, and creamy body. A hint of freshness energizes the cuvée as the effervescence completely melts away and the red fruits take on a spicy character.
The finish is round, delicious, peppery and very long (around 12 seconds), punctuating the tasting with mentholated bitterness.
This Garvaux 2019 rosé de saignée, created by Christian Gosset, is best paired with strong, rich, and indulgent dishes such as Pata Negra Bellota and Cebo ham, duck breast, barbecued salmon, an Époisse cheese burger, or washed-rind cheeses.
