The 2018 Sorangeon cuvée crafted by Christian Gosset is an uncompromising Blanc de Blancs champagne, offering, with great naturalness, the powerful expression of its terroir in a hot, dry year.
This cuvée is made from Chardonnay harvested on August 30, 2018 from a single parcel called "Sorangeon" in the Grand Cru village of Chouilly. This parcel, half a century old, is located in the middle of the slopes and benefits from an easterly exposure and thin soil on chalk.
Vinification takes place entirely in oak barrels, as naturally as possible, without filtration or chilling. The wine is Brut Nature, meaning that no sugar is added after disgorgement in April 2022.
This champagne has a luminous light yellow color with green highlights.
The nose is complex, floral, solar and exotic, with woody and vanilla accents, followed by notes of root and tobacco.
On the palate, the attack is broad and vigorous. The body is beautiful and well-structured with persistent vivacity. The tannic structure of 2018 is quickly revealed and the whole is very frank.
The finish is very long and chewy, with a chalky, saline feel.
This 2018 Sorangeon cuvée, by Christian Gosset, will find its place alongside firm-fleshed roasted or grilled fish, accompanied by tangy or spicy exotic notes such as ginger, passion fruit, saffron, curry, or mandarin.
