The 2019 Vintage Champagne Brice is an Extra Brut cuvée that embodies the power and finesse of the Grand Cru terroir of Bouzy. From an exceptional vintage, it perfectly reflects the signature style of the Brice house: expressive, deep, and extremely pure champagnes. Barrel aging and the absence of malolactic fermentation give this wine a structured, taut and elegant profile, where minerality combines with the richness of Pinot Noir.
The production of Champagne Brice Vintage 2019
Blend
This Grand Cru vintage champagne is made exclusively from Pinot Noir, the king of grape varieties in the Montagne de Reims, renowned for its power and ability to express the terroir. It comes from the Hudrissée, La Brousse, La Grue, and Les Tourtelottes vineyards in Bouzy. Here, Pinot Noir develops an aromatic richness and silky texture, while retaining the tension characteristic of the great wines of this commune.
The terroir
The southern slopes of Bouzy, a Grand Cru village, rest on chalky, clay-limestone soils that promote concentrated aromas and balanced ripeness. This sunny exposure produces dense, aromatic grapes, while the chalk ensures a mineral freshness and natural tension that give structure to the cuvée.
Vinification
Vinification takes place entirely in 228-liter oak barrels, in accordance with the artisanal philosophy of the Brice house. The absence of malolactic fermentation preserves the acidity and precision of the vintage. The cuvée is then aged for 5 years on lees to gain depth and aromatic complexity. Finally, an Extra Brut dosage (≤ 4 g/L) reveals the purity of the fruit and the nobility of the Bouzy terroir.
The 2019 vintage in Bouzy
The year 2019 offered an exceptional balance between maturity and freshness. After a hot and sunny summer, the grapes reached ideal concentration, preserving a fine acidity. The result is a complete, full-bodied and precise wine, expressing both the solar power of the vintage and the chalky freshness of the terroir.
